The theme music to Dinnerladies, which plays at the opening and closing of every episode, was composed by Victoria Wood. Although the theme music is generally played without lyrics, two episodes included lyrics on the closing of the episodes, with the lyrics by Victoria Wood herself. During an appearance on Parkinson in 2000, the theme was performed in its entirity with lyrics and Victoria Wood at the piano. This is the only time the theme song has been performed fully.

The episode Minnellium ended with the following lyrics:
